Fall Redfish in Rockport

Fall Redfish Update

After a very rainy, hot end to the summer, the Texas Coast received its first cold front of the season last weekend.  The fishermen were more than ready, and it seemed as though the fish were eager for things to cool off a bit. Despite 30 knot north winds, the sun stayed out and we were able to find a few fish in order to score in this years Hells Bay Owners Tournament. While we didn’t win, we were pleased at the fishing in spite of the brutal conditions. With another front moving in early next week, the water will continue to drop and clear, providing increasingly productive days of fishing. Fishing has been great overall. Three first-time saltwater anglers caught their first redfish (and more) during the last week- something that makes me proud and keeps me excited about getting out every day. Sight fishing to these redfish is an experience that I love sharing with folks of all abilities. Fall fishing conditions should last through the holiday season and, while November is booked solid, I do have some availability going into December so get in touch if you’d like to fly fish the Texas Coast!
