Owner of Dodson Fly Fishing, Captain Matt Dodson has built his life and career around his passion for the sport of fly-fishing. Born and raised in Texas, he learned how to fish at a very young age from his parents and grandparents. When he was six years old, he was taught how to cast a fly rod on the Madison River in Montana and spent every summer from then on developing his love for the sport. After earning a degree in Outdoor Leadership and Resort Management from Western State Colorado University, Matt moved to southwest Montana to start his career guiding on the esteemed Madison River and the surrounding trout streams.
Matt now spends October through May guiding in Rockport, TX. Rockport is a small coastal town surrounded by a vast array of saltwater flats. You’ll find white sand, turtle grass, oysters, mangroves, and flooded marsh all within a short boat ride from town. This fishery is truly unique and is still considered an untapped resource for fly anglers.

When Matt isn’t out guiding clients, you can find him on the water with his wife, Maggie, and their yellow lab, Earl…They both love to fish!
